London HMV Forum, 10 July 2010.
On that sunny day, me and my friend went to London. Our trip was not just ordinary trip, because on that day, we went to see AIR live in concert. We were so excited! Especially since both of us were longing to see AIR, as their songs have been our dreamy companion since we were in school.
Long story short, we arrived at the venue. The information on our ticket said that doors opened at 7, but even though we arrived at 8, there was still nothing on stage. I was quite disappointed to see the stage, minimalist, and just… Plain. Not as extravagant as I thought.
But my disappointment changed drastically when AIR came to the stage at 9 pm sharp, with Do The Joy as their first song, also the first song from their latest album, Love 2. I was stunned by the way they played their music. Totally awesome.
Songs after songs, I was still amazed by their performance. Seeing them live really represents the meaning of their band name, AIR (Amour, Imagination, Reve in French, which translates into Love, Imagination, and Dream). Plus, the stage that I thought was going to be just plain, transformed into a dreamy playground with superb visuals which captivated my attention (and thousand others) for the whole 1,5 hours.
Overall, both Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel were such talented musicians, and very humble. Their performance was truly magical, and i could not even imagine they would play Cherry Blossom Girl as well, one of my favourite songs of all time! (Yours too, I hope).
