The Drums Live & Up Close Report & Photos

May 27, 2011

Indonesia was considered lucky enough from the arrival of the indie-pop band from New York, United States, The Drums. Thanks to Ismaya Live who’d brought the current on-the-rise and most talked about band in the world.

The concert entitled “The Drums: Live & Up Close.” Truly there’s no-gap between The Drums and the audiences. The Drums Concert is held at Blowfish, Jakarta on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. It was opened by the song “What You Were.” After making no ‘sing-along-audience’ on the first song, “What You Were” (their new material on the album), “Me and the Moon” had finally became the second song that instantly made the audience singing.

The vocalist of The Drums, Jonathan Pierce, became a major stars at night, with a very distinctive style of dance and immediately reminded me of the lead singer of The Smiths, Morrissey, who’s combined with the lead singer of Joy Division, Ian Curtis. The absurd looking dance style that rocks!

“Best Friend,” “It Will All End in Tears,” “I Need Fun in My Life,” and “Let’s Go Surfing” had successfully made the audience singing-along. Three songs that made ??an encore are “Skippin’ Town,” “Down By the Water,” and “The Future,” The Drums is definitely a American with a British taste!
