ABOUT Kitsune

Founded in 2001, Kitsune is a multifaceted company currently based in Paris and London. It is as much a cutting-edge record label as it is a designer clothing brand and art collective. Widely known internationally for its prolific 12” and compilation releases, Kitsune is partly responsible for launching the careers of artists including Simian Mobile Disco, The Klaxons, and Digitalisim with several sought-after releases. One of their most notable series, Kitsune Maison is designed as club compilation but can be equally enjoyed at home.

It represents the forefront of electronic music, encapsulating the new French sounds along with their international contemporaries. Kitsune seventh and most recent release, Kitsune Maison 4, features exclusive and rare tracks from up and coming artists such as Dragonette, Passions, Guns ‘N’Bombs, as well as current favorites Crystal Castles, Feist, and Darkel.

Kitsune (Japanese for the fox) is believed to possess magical abilities that increase with age and wisdom… many will agree and continue to embrace everything that is Kitsune. Kitsune Music (taking its name from the Japanese for ‘Fox’) is a French electronic music record label created in 2001. Based in Paris and partly in London, the label is also a division of the Kitsune Fashion Label created by Gildas Loa’c (Roul’) and Masaya Kuroki.

The label has featured the following artists: Klaxons, Wolfmother, Digitalism, Captain Comatose, Black Strobe, Manhead, Freeform five, Zongamin, Cosmo Vitelli ,Gonzales, Man with Guitar, Tom Vek, VHS or Beta, Volga Select, Simian Mobile Disco, Chikinki, Joakim, Hot Chip and others.

Sebastiaan Vandevoorde already has some mileage on the counter of his vintage synth stacked studio… After 2 years as the composer & producer of VillA, where he remixed Moby, Keane, Gorillaz & many others, made exquisite edits of Tina Turner & Anita Meyer and delivered a summer anthem in the shape of “Beats Of Love”, the time has come to strike out on his own with a solo project entitled Moonlight Matters.

Seba’s versatility is his strongest point and he’s always able to adjust to the right mood and make smart, melodic dance music with serious wow factor. His music won’t just set your feet on fire and tear up a crowd; it will make your heart fizz with emotion. This disco-pop project promises to grow out into a long-term eargasm so expect well thought out compositions with surgically inserted power beats on a bed of timeless sounds. Currently composing music for an upcoming Luc Besson movie with Iggy Pop on vocal duty, Moonlight Matters is also working with fellow Ghent outfit Shindu on their brilliant cover of Siouxsie and the Banshees’ track “Happy House”, out on Kitsuné in June. Coming from the same neck of the woods in Belgium as Soulwax, Aeroplane and The Glimmers, Moonlight Matters is definitely here to stay.
