Java Rockin'land 2011

When Java Festival Production (JFP) announced its partial list of international rock groups due to perform at its Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land 2011, one of the most asked question via the social media was whether the band will be performing with vocalist Dolores O’Riordian. Interestingly, one of the reasons why JFP invited this group to its signature rock festival is because The Cranberries have once again reunite with its original vocalist.

As posted on The Cranberries official site, the group recently completed their studio session for their latest album which was released last May 24th. Most possibly, the audience of Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land 2011 on July 23rd will get to feast upon some of The Cranberries’ newest tunes.

So far, 14 international and 60 Indonesian groups have confirmed their participation at Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land 2011, scheduled for 22, 23 and 24 July 2011 at Carnaval Beach Ancol.

Confirmed to dazzle the audience are The Cranberries, The Dirt Radicals, Ed Kowalczyk of LIVE, 30 Seconds to Mars, Neon Trees, Loudness, We Are Scientists, Happy Mondays, Blood Red Shoes, Young the Giant, Good Charlotte, Franco, Frente and Helloween; it is a line-up of diversity.

Some of the Indonesian rock groups due to perform at the event, among which, are God Bless, Cupumanik, Edane, Power Metal, 7 Deadly Sins, The Morning After, Closehead, Parau, Speak Up, Step Forward, Power Slave, X-Shibuya, March, No Label, Devide, Master Wu, Morfem, Dried Cassava, Fable, Alone At Last and Munthe. This list will expand in due time.

What’s Unique
Whether it is intentional or simply because of shared similarity, rock groups often comprise of siblings. At least four rock groups performing at Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land 2011 has members who are related to each other. The Cranberries (Noel and Mike Hogan), 30 Seconds to Mars (Shannon and Jared Leto), The Dirt Radicals (Matt and Sam Cooper) and Good Charlotte (Joel and Benji Madden) are some examples. The group Happy Mondays was founded by brothers Shaun and Paul Ruder (Paul is no longer with Happy Mondays), whilst Ed Kowalczyk, since he’s been with LIVE, often jammed with brother, Adam Kowalczyk, an additional player to the band.

The year 2011 is a special year for Japanese legendary rock group, Loudness. They are celebrating their 30th year. During the month of May and June, Loudness celebrates the monumental milestone by touring the US. Loudness is a Japanese rock group that has been successful in the US.

The emergence of Blood Red Shoes in the roster of performers convinced their fans in Hong Kong to immediately secure their tickets to Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land since last May. For the fans of Good Charlotte, their performance on the last day of Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land 2011, Sunday, 24 July, will relieve the disappointment of their fans due to the cancellation of the band’s previous show in Bali (last April).

If Indonesia, especially Jakarta, is beginning to be known as the destination of jazz music gala, now it’s high time to resonate Jakarta as the destination of rock music extravaganza to the world.

When the name Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land is posted on the official website of international groups and discussed via social media, the wider the spread of positioning Jakarta as the the city of music festivals and Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land as an international rock festival.

The many rock festival goers resonating Gudang Garam InterMusic Java Rockin’land within the social media will propel promotion efforts saying that there’s a prestigious international rock music festival in Indonesia.
